Nineteen Eighty-Four

Winston Smith, a lowly bureaucrat in the Ministry of Truth longs for freedom and writes down all his desires in his secret journal. Smith is silently serving the autocratic, grim hyper-state Oceania’s pleasure. He knows that Big Brother, the supreme leader of the English Socialist Party, monitors his every movement and condemns already scared people to a life in slavery. As the oppressive stranglehold of the totalitarian government grows more tighter, Smith meets Julia, another equally rebellious member of the party, and an egregious clandestine affair ensues. There is no way out, and the illegal couple will be held responsible for the crimes it committed against the dictatorial government. What is a good citizen? –Nick Riganas
