Mother and Child
A fourteen-year-old girl has sex with a man, becomes pregnant and then gives up her child for adoption. We are now able to see three different women who struggle to control their own lives. Elizabeth is a successful and smart lawyer who makes the most of her body. She uses her sex appeal whenever she feels she isn’t in control or doesn’t control the situation. This could be to establish a romantic relationship with her boss, when she suspects that he might try to, or to manage her neighbor and husband. Karen is bitter and a hardworking health care worker who clearly has heart, but doesn’t show it. At fourteen, she gave up her daughter. She is now the mother of Elizabeth and the girl who was her 14-year-old daughter. Her bitterness has driven her to attack everyone in her path, even her gentle boss.
