Hello I Must Be Going

Amy, now thirty, moves in with Ruth and Stan Minsky, her parents from Westport, Connecticut, after her breakup and impending divorce. David requested the divorce after an affair Amy thought he had with a friend. Amy thought her perfect marriage was complete until she learned about the affair. David asked for divorce. Surprised and shocked by David’s actions, Amy left David basically in her pajamas and did not ask for any part of the settlement. She is now in depression, unable to leave the house, and unsure of what she should do with her future. Her job history is limited, she has a degree in liberal arts and has resigned from her Master’s program in photography to be with David. Her parents are likely to have mixed reactions about her returning. She believes that her parents have mixed feelings about Ruth’s return. Ruth is focused and has an excellent plan. It mainly consists of finishing the renovations and traveling the world. Amy didn’t have to move back in. Amy, on the other hand, believes Stan is her only true love, even though he admitted to not knowing what to say. Amy, nineteen years old, enters into a secret relationship with Jeremy, an actor who has achieved some success and is well-known. Due to their differences as ages and because Jeremy’s stepfather Larry may be a potential client for Stan, Stan feels that he needs Larry to help him retire. This is something he’s already delayed due to the market. Amy hesitates to call their relationship a “relationship” despite Amy’s emotional involvement in Amy’s life. Jeremy is currently facing his own problems despite Gwen his therapist mother being his greatest champion. Amy might come to certain conclusions regarding her post-David life as new realities emerge within the group. –Huggo
