Google and the World Brain
This is the story of one of the most important projects ever created on the Internet. And the stories about the people trying to stop it. 1937 saw the birth of the “World Brain”, a massive global library with all knowledge that would eventually lead to a new type of intelligence. The realization of this dream began seventy years later, when Google scans millions to millions of books for the Google Books website. Over half of those books were in copyright. Authors around the globe launched an effort to end them. The campaign culminated in a New York courtroom. The film is about the dangers, dreams and dilemmas that the Internet can cause, and it was shot in stunning locations across China, Europe, America, and Latin America. –Polar Star Films
