Food, Inc.
This is partly due to the rapid growth of fast food since the 1950s. Since then, the production of food has changed more dramatically than in several thousand years. The global food production industry is dominated by just a few multinational corporations. Its unwritten goal is to produce large amounts of food with low inputs (mostly subsidized). This results in huge profits and greater control over the supply of global food resources within those companies. Companies often ignore safety and health (of food, animals, workers, consumers, etc.) in order to offer cheap food without considering the negative effects. Although many of these changes have their roots in scientific and technological advances, they often cause side effects. For example, the products have been found to increase breast size and expand male sexual organs. Companies have found a way to apply more science to the problem to address the symptoms, but not to fix the root cause. The lack of biodiversity may have caused a crisis in global food supplies, but it is possible to improve the supply side. –Huggo
