Final Portrait

While on a brief trip to Paris in 1964, James Lord, an American writer and artist, is approached by Alberto Giacometti, a world-renowned artist (Geoffrey Rush), for permission to take a portrait. Giacometti promises Lord that the process will only take a few days. Lord is flattered and impressed. Lord agrees to tell the tale of a strange friendship. He also offers a glimpse into the frustration, profundity, beauty and sometimes chaos that is the creative process. The film FINALPORTRAIT portrays a genius and a friendship that grew out of an ever-evolving act in creativity. The film shines light on artistic processes, which can be exhilarating or frustrating, and asks whether they are a blessing, curse, or both.
