Eternal Summer

Jonathan, a student from Taiwan who grew up in a small town near the coast of Taiwan was asked by his teacher to care for Shane (Joseph Chang) as a youngster. Ten years later, the friendship that began as a simple, good-natured obligation blossomed into something more. Jonathan is still on the academic track, while Shane finds his niche on the basketball court. Taiwanese-born Carrie (Kate Yeung), transfers from Hong Kong to the school and convinces Jonathan that he should join her secretly on a day trip to Taipei. Her failed attempt to seduce Shane in a love hotel in Taipei combined with observations about his friendship soon lead her to suspect that her object of affection is actually a gay man in love with Shane. Carrie quickly begins to trust the troublemaker’s charm, despite her misgivings. He convinces Carrie to be his girlfriend if she is accepted to a university. As Shane gets his act together, Jonathan experiences a sexual identity crisis and Carrie becomes his girlfriend. The former tries to hide his feelings for Carrie in an effort to preserve the friendship he has made over the years. Despite Jonathan, Shane, and Carrie trying to hide their feelings, the truth finally comes out, forcing them all to see their relationship in a new way. –Celestine
