Dogville
Grace, a young, beautiful, and elegantly dressed woman (Nicole Kidman), escapes to Dogville, an old, mountainous mining town. Grace arrives as a fugitive after hearing gunshots far away. Tom, the town’s moral spokesperson, hears the sounds. Tom persuades the town to conceal Grace and she gives her assistance free of charge. The Sheriff of another town places a Missing Notice, offering a reward to Grace for her information. Grace refuses to reveal her location. When the Sheriff comes back a few weeks later, they demand a better deal. Even though Grace is innocent, Grace’s free will becomes an expensive burden and treatment that’s similar to that of a slave. Grace is hiding a dangerous secret from the town. –Neil Hillman.
