Dante’s Inferno: An Animated Epic
Dante returns home after three years of fighting in the Crusades to be with his loved Beatrice and to see his father. Dante spots a rider, and the man disappears without a trace. He arrives at home to find his father dead, the servants killed, and Beatrice in danger. Lucifer, who is guiding him to Hell as his soul goes to heaven, takes Beatrice with him and tells her that Dante betrayed them. Dante is accompanied by Virgil, who leads him to Hell. The poet explains to Dante that Beatrice made a wager with Lucifer to ensure that Dante was faithful while fighting in the holy war. Lucifer promised to protect Dante, and take him home safely and sound. Dante discovers upon his arrival in Hell that Lucifer requires him to travel nine circles in order to get to Lucifer.
