Contact (1997)

Ellie Arroway, an astronomer, has always been fascinated by contact with faraway lands. This love was fostered in her childhood years by Ted Arroway (David Morse), her father. She died at nine, leaving Ellie orphaned. She is still a strong believer in the love of her father and continues to monitor for extraterrestrial existence. Since the National Science Foundation (N.S.F. ) funded her work, Her work was pulled by the National Science Foundation (N.S.F.). This is often referred to others, including her N.S.F. Superior David Drumlin (Tom Skerritt) Ellie and a handful of her rebel scientist colleagues have searched for funding wherever they could to keep their research going. Ellie is relieved when her coworkers hear talker from around the star Vega. However, Ellie’s vindication does not last long as others try to overtake her work, including military leaders and politicians. The project gains a new dimension when the space messages are decoded. This strengthens Ellie’s quest for truth. The unknown source who funded Ellie’s research and his motives, as well as Palmer Joss (Matthew McConaughey), an author and theologian who, despite fundamental differences, are mutually attracted. Their attraction is partly based on their intellects and shared goal to find the truth. –Huggo
