Close Encounters of the Third Kind

There are two parallel stories. The first is about a team of researchers from different backgrounds investigating strange items that appear in desert areas. One of their lead scientists, Claude Lacombe (Frenchman), uses the Kodaly music education method as a communication tool in his work. At first, the reply baffled the researchers. Then, American cartographer David Laughlin finally deciphers what the answer means. The second video shows Roy Neary, a family man and electric company operator, and Jillian Guiler, a single mother, who both experience paranormal activity. They also see bright flashes in the sky that they think are UFOs. Roy is obsessed by what he witnessed, which is unlike other people, particularly those in authority who are unwilling to admit that they believe it to be a UFO. Roy and Jillian’s obsession becomes more intense when they see a mound that has vertical striations along its sides as the key to understanding what is happening. Although the obsession has a negative impact on Roy’s entire life, Jillian is aware that she must find out the meaning of it, particularly as it pertains to Barry Guiler (3 years old), who might be more attentive to what is going on than those around him. If Roy and Jillian are able to find the mound and overcome the lies that they believe have been told by authorities, these two stories could intersect. –Huggo
