Chernobyl: Abyss

Chernobyl. The Abyss was the first Russian film to explore the effects of the Chernobyl nuclear accident. It tells the story of hundreds who died to save the area and prevent a bigger catastrophe that would have made a significant portion of Europe uninhabitable. Alexey is a fireman from the power plant and the unlikely protagonist of the movie. Boris (a military diver) and Valery (an engineer), accompany him on their dangerous mission to empty the reservoir below the reactor’s burning core. The molten core of the reactor is getting closer and more dangerously hotter each hour, so they don’t have time to plan. The men are prepared to risk their lives to stop a greater disaster. They descend to the bottom of the reactor building.
