Charlie Wilson’s War
Charlie Wilson, a Texas-based womanizing US congressman, is seen in the 1980s as a representative for Texas. He is also a member on two of the major foreign policy committees and the covert operations committees. Wilson is prodded to learn about the suffering of Afghan people under the Soviet occupation. Gustav Avrakotos (a maverick CIA agent), helps Wilson to provide weapons and other support for the Afghan mujahideen. Charlie Wilson soon learns, however, that military victories are possible, but that there are also other costs and consequences that must be paid. –Kenneth Chisholm ([email protected])
