Blue Velvet
Jeffrey Beaumont, a college student, returns home to Lumberton in order to run his dad’s hardware shop while he is in hospital. Jeffrey discovers a human head in a meadow next to the family’s home. After conducting an initial investigation Detective John Williams of the police advises Jeffrey to not speak with anyone regarding this case while they continue to investigate. Jeffrey is also told by Detective Williams that the police do not have any details about it. Sandy Williams (high school-aged daughter of Detective Williams) tells Jeffrey all she has learned about the case through her father’s conversations. She says that the case is related to Dorothy Vallens who lives in an apartment near Beaumont. Jeffrey’s curiosity taking over, Sandy and Sandy help him break into Dorothy’s apartment to learn more about the woman in the middle of the case. He knows that she is at work, but he doesn’t know what else. Jeffrey discovers a new world, one he does not fully understand yet that is appealing to him despite all the dangers associated with possible murder. He is still torn between the world and Sandy’s prospect of having a relationship, even though Sandy has been in a relationship for years with Mike, the star football player at the school. –Huggo
