Black Swan

Nina (Portman), a New York City ballerina, lives her life completely devoted to dance. Erica Hershey, her ex-ballerina mother and obsessive dancer mother, lives in her home. She has a controlling grip on her. Nina (Cassel), artistic director, decides that prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre(Ryder), will be replaced for their season’s opening show, Swan Lake. Nina is challenged by Lily Kunis, a talented new dancer who also impresses Leroy. Swan Lake needs a dancer capable of playing both the White Swan (with innocence and grace) and the Black Swan (who represents guilefulness and sensuality). Nina is perfect for the White Swan role, but Lily portrays the Black Swan. Nina is drawn closer to her darker side as the rivalry between them turns into a dangerous friendship. –Fox Searchlight Pictures
