Black Snake Moan

Lazarus is a rural Tennessee musician and truck farmer who finds himself near a girl almost killed. The white trash town tramp is a victim of the sexual abuse of her father, and verbal abuse by her mother. Rae seems delighted in reminding her of the mistake she made in aborting Rae. Rae is being cared for by Lazarus who, despite his personal turmoil due to the end of his marriage, provides gentle and fatherly advice, as well as a education in blues music. Ronnie, Rae’s boyfriend and a man who almost beat Rae to death is enthralled by him and promises to murder him. Lazarus displays a street-smart understanding violence and its motivations and calls Ronnie’s Bluff. He then becomes a guide in Rae’s recovery. Joe Jurca
