Before Sunset
Jesse Wallace, an American thirtysomething, is visiting Paris to promote This Time, his bestseller. He is vague about what the book is about, but he says it’s about his encounter with Celine in Paris nine years prior, on June 15-16 1994. It also describes the unforgettable and memorable evening that they shared in Vienna. They met at Vienna’s train station and, as the book concludes, neither of them provided contact information. Jesse sees Celine among the crowd as the media scrum nears the end of the bookstore. Celine only discovered about the book after seeing his photo promoting it to the public. Jesse and Celine (now an environmental activist) decide to spend some time together before he returns to New York. This time, however, it only takes about one hour. They discuss their six-month meeting and what happened over the nine years. Also, their current lives. –Huggo
