Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Batman, the costumed crime fighter who patrols Gotham City’s night skies, quickly discovers that there is another vigilante out in town chasing down prominent mob leaders. The scythe-like knife for a blade, a mechanical voice, and the smoke trail that goes with the figure everywhere it goes make the vigilante look like Batman. Outraged police demand that this longtime Batman hero is brought to justice. Andrea Beaumont is back in town. Bruce Wayne’s lost love, Andrea Beaumont, is back in town. She’s Batman’s alter-ego and is integral to Wayne’s decision 10 years ago to wear the cowl and cape. She is now back in Wayne’s life, and she causes as much disruption to his daily routine as his archenemy The Joker. He has an interest in the destruction of the new vigilante, whatever it turns out to be. –J. Spurlin
