Audition (1999)
Shigeharu, a Tokyo widower who grieves the death of his wife and rears his child Shigehiko alone, lives in Tokyo. The teenage Shigehiko questions his father, who is middle-aged, about why he doesn’t remarry. Seven years later Shigeharu goes to Yasuhisa Yoshikawa (a producer) and confirms his intentions. Shigeharu is unable to find suitable women and Yasuhisa organizes a fake audition to cast the leading actress in the movie. Shigeharu falls in love with Asami Yamazaki after they receive many portfolios. Shigeharu, despite the warnings of Yasuhisa’s experienced advisors, calls Asami for a date. He falls in love with her.
