Anatahan

In June 1944, twelve Japanese seaman are stranded on an abandoned-and-forgotten island called Ana-ta-han for seven years. Only two people live on the island: the plantation’s overseer and a young Japanese girl. A former warrant officer represents discipline, but he loses his face in a catastrophe that ends all of it. Soon discipline and rationality will be replaced by the struggle for power, and women. A pair of guns found in an American plane’s wreckage is the symbol of power. Five men risk their lives to win supremacy. –Les Adams
