An Inspector Calls (TV Movie)
Arthur Birling is a pompous industrialist who hopes to be knighted. Sybil, his superior, and Eric, their young son, are celebrating Sheila’s engagement to Gerald Croft. Inspector Goole visits them. Inspector Goole visits them and tells them about Eva Smith’s suicide. Although they claim to not have met Smith, the inspector shows that all of them contributed in some way to her death. The children feel embarrassed and stop the engagement. Arthur Birling doubts the authority of the inspector, however, so he rings the local police station. This is the beginning of a double shock that will result in the family’s ruin and humiliation. –don @ minifie-1
