A League of Their Own
When all men were fighting in World War II, many of the vacant jobs were taken over by women. Because they didn’t want baseball to go dormant forever, the owners decided to create teams that included women. To find female players, scouts travel across the country. Dottie Hinson is a scout who passes through Oregon. She’s amazing. He approached her, asking her to join him but she declined. Kit, Kit’s sister and she wants to leave Oregon so they offer to travel. He agrees, but only if Kit can convince her sister. They are both selected and placed on the same team after they have tried out. Jimmy Dugan is a former player and now drunk who manages the team. He doesn’t think it’s an actual job, so he drink and does not do his job. So Dottie steps up. The league faces closure until Dottie makes a statement that gets attention after the girls have been ignored for a while. Dottie quickly becomes the main star and Kit is left feeling like she is living under her shadow. –[email protected]
