A Fish Called Wanda
Georges Thomason, his American seductress Wanda Gershwitz (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Ken Pile (Sir Michael Palin), are in London planning their latest crime. They plan to rob 13 million sterling of diamonds. After the heist, they plan to flee the country carrying the stolen goods. They enlist Otto West, her brother and weapons expert (Kevin Kline), to help them with this heist. Wanda recommended it. Otto, actually, is not Wanda’s younger brother. He’s her new lover. A dimwit who focuses on body smell and thinks he’s intelligent because he has read Nietzsche. Otto managed to convince Wanda to become his girlfriend by revealing her weakness: she can only speak Italian when seducing. Otto and Wanda plan to double-cross Georges, having Otto arrested for the heist. While they steal the jewels. Wanda plans to double-cross Otto, by removing him from the photo after she gets the jewels. Georges is arrested, but he doesn’t know who tipped the off police. He was later implicated by Patricia Hayes (an elderly eyewitness). Georges is in prison and Wanda, Otto, discover that Georges has moved the jewels from their original location to hide them. They tell no one where they are, but give Ken a hint. Georges assigns Ken, an animal lover and stutterer, the job of murdering Mrs. Coady, who is also the Crown’s main witness. Wanda devises her own strategy to achieve her goal. She will seduce George Leach, a defense lawyer, and discover Georges secrets regarding the heist. Archie might be a tempting prey to Wanda, since his wife Wendy (Maria Aitken), is an insular woman who doesn’t pay much attention. If Otto finds out about Wanda’s activities, he might put a wrench in her plans. –Huggo
