Insomnia (2002)
Kay Connell, a seventeen-year-old resident of Nightmute in Alaska is murdered. Two Los Angeles Robbery Homicide detectives Hap Eckhart and Will Dormer are summoned to help with the investigation. Both Eckhart and Dormer are well-known in the law enforcement world. However, they have some issues in Los Angeles. Nightmute has Dormer suffering from severe insomnia. This is due to both the relentless midnight sun as well as a hidden secret. He is delusional because of his insomnia. He isn’t dreaming of the fact that Dormer is being murdered. The two of them form a mutually beneficial relationship, keeping each other’s secrets. Ellie Burr is a young, ambitious local detective who might be able to piece together the tale on her own. –Huggo
