Little Italy (2018)
Growing up in Toronto’s Little Italy neighbourhood, Nikki Angioli was a fierce competitor and Leo Campo was best friend. The pizza Napoli pizza was the most popular in Little Italy because it featured Nikki’s paternal Nona Franca Angioli’s secret marinara and Leo’s Paternal Nono Carlo Campo’s thin-crust pizza recipe. Leo has been in Toronto for a while, working at his father’s pizzeria. However, Nikki who was a close friend of Leo’s growing up ran away to London in 2005 to escape her past. Leo and Vince are now locked in an intractable feud. Nikki, who is aspiring to be a professional chef of pizza and other cuisines, has been attending the Corinne Cooking School. She seems to have nothing positive about her students. Nikki discovers it’s between Gareth and her, a student Corinne has chosen to work in her London restaurant. The two will be competing to create the best menu. Nikki learns she must deal with a visa problem, which means she will have to travel back to Toronto, regardless of whether she enjoys it. She discovers that the sexual tension between them is still present when she runs in Leo. Both will face many obstacles to getting together. They both have to recognize that these hurdles are worth it while some are nonexistent. –Huggo
