Jimmy’s Hall

1932. After ten years in exile, Jimmy Gralton has returned to the Irish countryside. Jimmy’s widowed mother Alice, Jimmy and his friends, as well as all of the youth who love dancing and singing, are content. This isn’t the case for Father Sheridan (the local priest), nor the village squire or Dennis O’Keefe who are the chief fascists. Jimmy is a socialist activist. The “intruder”, who reopened the village hall to allow the villagers to meet to dance, sing, paint, study, or box, took a dim view. It’s difficult to control people who think and work together. They will then use all means to rid Jimmy of his “dangerous” family. –Guy Bellinger
