101 Dalmatians
Following a chase through London’s bustling streets, Roger, a struggling computer game author, and Pongo, his Dalmatian male, are pulled into St. James Park where they meet Anita (Joely Richardson), a charming fashion designer, and Perdita, her Dalmatian female. One thing leads to another and soon Roger and Anita are married. Perdita is also pregnant. Their short-lived happiness is interrupted when Cruella DeVil, Anita’s glamorous boss (Glen Close), takes the puppies and makes a lavish coat from the dog’s gorgeously spotted fur. Cruella, Perdita and fifteen of her puppies will eventually bring it to ninety-nine Dalmatians. But are these adorable puppies as helpless? –Nick Riganas
